Threats to the Mahakam River: 

Pollution is one of the biggest threats in the Mahakam River, this is because lots of the chemicals are thrown into the river after Mining.

Species Extinction and Habitat Loss is another big threat in the Mahakam River. This is caused by plantations and mining.

Increased Sedimentation in the lakes can push the Pesut Mahakam towards smaller rivers and can cause boat traffic.

Another threat to the Mahakam River is Logging, Many companies or illegal loggers cut down the riparian zones of the Mahakam River.
